iAero hosted a visit from Michael Tsahalis, the Senior Trade and Investment Advisor with special responsibility for Future Mobility, from the British Consulate in New York. There was a packed programme which included presentations from Leonardo, Honeywell and AvOptics. The LEP outlined their plans for Future Aviation Test Zones, and talked about the compelling eco-system for supporting Future Flight technologies in the South West. Colin Turner from WEAF provided local intelligence about the richness of company capabilities in the South West and the respective innovation clusters. Wayne Loschi from the Epic Centre in Torbay explained how the Heart of the South West Innovation Centres work across sectors to make expertise and equipment fully accessible, demonstrating the links between photonics and aerospace.
The programme ended with a visit to view the Leonardo assembly line and the simulation and testing suite.
